How Much Heat Does A Hairdryer Produce?

Because there are hundreds of thousands of hair dryer brands available today and how many varieties to choose from, we often wonder why is it that hair dryers from salons are better than what we have at home.

The answer depends on a couple of factors, but the one that we’re going to talk about today is the heat a hair dryer produces.

Typically a hairdryer can produce up to 70 degrees, but that doesn’t mean that you should use that much heat to dry your hair.

To dry your hair safely, you should always be mindful of the distance and the type of hair you have.

Thin hair and curly hairs are the ones that are more susceptible to heat damage that can lead to breakage.

Another thing to keep in mind while hair drying is the distance from your hair and the hairdryer, a reasonable distance is about 15cm, and you should always be mindful that you move around a lot and do not leave the hairdryer at a specific place for too long.

A better solution is to just use a hairdryer diffuser. It works by diffusing the air to a much larger area so that the chance of you damaging your hair would be lessened considerably.

How many watts is a good hairdryer?

In our opinion, any hairdryer that is at least 2000 watts is sufficient; this would give you plenty of heat to work with.

Most hair dryers would market their hairdryers with a lot of watts like its some kind of achievement to have a 10,000 watts hairdryer.

What matters is the features and if it would fit your hair type. A good hairdryer for us should have a variety of heat setting, including a cool shot setting.

The cheapest hair dryers have a problem with this area like the lowest heat setting is still too hot for your hair. The lowest setting should dry your hair slow and should never burn your hair.

Another thing you might want to consider when buying one is whether it’s a ceramic or ionic hairdryer.

Both can be an excellent option to buy. If you like your hair to have shine and avoid frizz, we suggest getting an ionic hairdryer.

Another thing to consider is the accessories that come with it. We always suggest that you at least have a diffuser in hand.
